Katherine Pham, 2020 Sheffey Endowment Winner
We proudly announce Katherine Pham as the Will Sheffey Kappa Sigma Endowment scholarship winner for the 2020 academic year. Katherine’s success story has humble beginnings. She graduated from Thomas Dale High School here in Richmond, VA. In her own words, Katherine writes:
“My name is Katherine Pham. I am a senior at VCU who is majoring in marketing, concentrating on product and brand management. I am also minoring in fashion merchandising at VCUarts. I moved to America from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, eleven years ago. Because I am the oldest daughter, I am also the first person to attend college in my family.”
Katherine is being modest about her accomplishments — so we’ll have to toot the horn for her. Highlights of her continuing time at VCU include:
Being a key member of a team charged with real-world research for Target™ — delving into how they could expand the retailer’s toy market share during the holiday season. (She also presented the project to Target store managers for evaluation and, along with her team of six, won 1st place for the project.)
Katherine was the only marketing student among 11 VCUArts winners in the Fashion Scholarship Fund Case Study Competition. The Annual contest garners competition from Ivy League schools and notable fashion schools such as FIT and Parsons.
Katherine was also a finalist for the Thalhimer Scholarship, currently the only full-ride scholarship at VCU, awarded to the top School of Business senior.
In addition to Sheffey Memorial Endowment Scholarship, she was awarded the Bank of America Scholarship and the School of Business Foundation Scholarship.
After graduation, Katherine hopes to pursue her passion for creative brand management and fashion through the VCU Brandcenter. She’s also actively looking for a Summer 2021 internship in the field of Marketing and Merchandising. Connect with her on LinkedIn. You’ll be lucky to have her on your team.
